How to choose the right baby swaddle

The right swaddle is a game changer. When you find it, everything clicks into place. But what works for one bebé won’t necessarily work for the next. That’s why we offer a variety of different swaddles to help you find the right one… for you.

Having said that, there are two key things that are consistent across all of our swaddles.

The first is quality. Our swaddles are made to last. We want them to be handed down between siblings and then used as dolly picnic rugs or superhero capes long after your baby years are over.

The second is the size. All of our swaddles are a very generous 120cm x 120cm. We found it difficult when we had our bebés to find swaddles that were large enough. So that was the first non-negotiable when it came to creating our range.

The core difference between our swaddles, other than different prints, colours and patterns, is the fabric they’re made from. To help you decide which one is right for you, we’ve explained these different fabrics below.

What is a cotton muslin swaddle?

100% cotton muslin

Our 100% Cotton Muslin Swaddles are made from 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) certified cotton muslin. GOTS is the leading certification for organic fibres and it considers the entire manufacturing process.

GOTS certified cotton muslin is lightweight and breathable. It’s also super soft and non-toxic so it’s gentle on sensitive baby skin. The loose weave of the muslin gives some stretch to the swaddle.

If you live in a very warm climate or prefer a lighter swaddle for your bebé then this is a great option for you.

What is an organic muslin swaddle?

Organic muslin

The difference between our 100% Cotton Muslin and Organic Muslin Wraps is the addition of bamboo. These swaddles are made from a 70% bamboo/30% cotton muslin blend.

We’re all about eco-friendly baby products so we love that bamboo is a sustainable fibre. It is a fast-growing plant, highly renewable and doesn’t require pesticides or much water to grow. But what we really love most about bamboo is that it gets softer with each wash. Truly! It just gets better and better with age.

These swaddles are luxurious, warm, moisture-wicking and naturally UV resistant.

What is a jersey swaddle?

Jersey Wraps are thicker than muslin options.  Ours are made from 100% jersey cotton. Like the muslin swaddles, jersey wraps are also breathable and have a small amount of stretch.

Jersey is perfect for new mamás who are still learning to swaddle their bebé. The jersey offers more structure which can make it easier to get the swaddling technique right. This also helps if you have an extra wriggly baby!

The thicker fabric is slightly warmer making these swaddles ideal for cooler climates.

What is a jersey stretch swaddle?

Jersey stretch

The Jersey Stretch Swaddles are the latest addition to our range. We wanted something that had the structure, warmth and breathability of jersey but with the stretch of cotton muslin.

These swaddles are made from 95% jersey cotton and 5% spandex. The added stretch helps you to get a really good fit for your bebé. If you think about that snug and secure feeling you get when you wear a fitted stretch jersey dress or pair of leggings, that’s the feeling your bebé gets when they’re wrapped in this fabric.
